Since 1994 the city vignette of Jerusalem from the mosaic map of Madeba has been shown on the front page of all publications of the German Palestine Society.

The Board of Directors chose the vignette of Jerusalem, because Jerusalem, like no other place in the Holy Land brings together people and times, cultures and religions, and thus symbolizes the goals of the society. The Society favoured for the mosaic vignette for one hand because of its closed appearance and for the other hand for the scientific and solicitous interest which the society has maintained since the discovery of the mosaic at the end of the last century.
