Conference “Current Archaeological and Historical Research in the Southern Levant,” December 6–8, 2024, Erbacher Hof, Mainz
featured, News @en, uncategorizedThe Board of the German Society for the Exploration of Palestine (DPV) invites you to the next Members’ Meeting, which will take place on December 6, 2024, at the Erbacher Hof in Mainz. The Members’ Meeting is part of the conference “Current Archaeological and Historical Research in the Southern Levant,” which will also be held from December 6 to 8, 2024, at the Erbacher Hof in Mainz.
You can find all important information in the Program of the DPV Conference 2024, and the Registration Form for the DPV Conference 2024.
Please note that registration for the conference this year is not handled by the Erbacher Hof but by the Biblical Archaeological Institute of the University of Tübingen. We therefore ask you to send the fully completed Registration Form to: evi.stanger@uni-tuebingen.de.
To secure your place, we recommend early registration. Please be aware that the registration deadline for the conference is October 31, 2024. After this date, the remaining rooms at the Erbacher Hof will be allocated to other guests.
The Board would be very pleased to welcome many of you to the conference and the Members’ Meeting.
Scientific Conference 2022: Representations of Goddesses and Gods in Palestine
News @enThe German Society for the Exploration of Palestine is organizing a conference on “Representations of Goddesses and Gods in Palestine” in Mainz from December 2 to 4, 2022. The conference venue, the Erbacher Hof, is located in the center of Mainz, close to the cathedral. Fourteen lectures by researchers from Germany and abroad will deal with the topic of representations of gods for different time periods from the Chalcolithic to the Roman period. In addition, two key notes will present results of recent excavation projects in the region. For the first time, the Helga Weippert Prize for the promotion of young scientists will be awarded during the conference. Helga Weippert Prize of the German Society for the Exploration of Palestine
News @enIn 2022, the German Society for the Exploration of Palestine is awarding the Helga Weippert Prize for outstanding dissertations or habilitations in the fields of the archaeology, history, religion, culture and regional studies of Palestine for the first time. The prize is endowed with €2,000. It serves to promote young scientists in German-speaking countries and is named after the biblical archaeologist and Old Testament scholar Helga Weippert (1943-2019).
